Sparkling Services removes junk and bulky items in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia, from a single piece of furniture to a full load: sofas, appliances, mattresses, boxes, garden furniture or green waste. We carry everything down from any floor, so nothing needs to go out on the pavement. Reusable items are put to good use or donated, the rest recycled. You get a quick, free quote from photos, with three options depending on the value of your belongings: free clearance, we pay you, or a fixed price on quotation.

What our junk removal service takes away

Sparkling Services collects anything too big or heavy for the bin, from a single item to a full van load, and takes care of sorting and recycling. You show us what needs to go and we do the rest.

We take away, among other things:

  • furniture: sofas, wardrobes, beds, tables, chairs, bookcases, desks;
  • appliances: fridges, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, ovens;
  • mattresses and bed bases, of any size;
  • garden waste and outdoor furniture: branches, hedge trimmings, dismantled sheds, patio sets, barbecues;
  • boxes and packaging after a move or a furniture delivery;
  • miscellaneous items: bikes, toys, rugs, lamps, suitcases, small appliances.

Dismantling a wardrobe or bed that will not fit down the stairs is included. Once everything is loaded, we sweep the spot where it stood.

What we cannot take

Asbestos (old corrugated sheets, some coatings) must be removed by a certified contractor. Gas cylinders go back to the supplier, and chemicals, paint and solvents belong at collection points for small hazardous household waste. If you have rubble or soil, tell us first: specific conditions apply.

Who uses junk removal, and when

Our junk removal service is for households, landlords, building managers and small businesses who want to get rid of bulky items quickly, without a car or trailer of their own.

Typical requests

  • New furniture delivered: the old sofa or bed has to go, and the shop will not take it.
  • Moving house: whatever is not coming to the new place, plus the empty boxes.
  • A big clear-out: the cellar, garage or attic has been overflowing for years.
  • Garden jobs: a dismantled shed, branches after pruning, worn-out patio furniture.
  • Between tenants: the previous occupant left furniture behind and the landlord needs the property empty.
  • Leaving Belgium: expats who need to get rid of whatever is not shipping with them, often at short notice.

If an entire home needs emptying, our house clearance service is a better fit, with full sorting, coordination and an overall price. Junk removal works best for specific items, in small or medium quantities, that you have already picked out.

Free council collection or private junk removal? An honest comparison

Municipal bulky waste collection is often the cheapest option, but it comes with limits on volume, waiting time and carrying; a private service like Sparkling Services is faster and collects from inside your home, on quotation. The right choice depends on your situation.

What public services offer

  • In Brussels, Bruxelles-Propreté (Net Brussel) offers one free collection per household per year, up to 3 m³, by appointment; beyond that, you pay.
  • In Flanders and Wallonia, the regional waste authorities (intercommunales) run collections by appointment, usually for a fee, alongside recycling centres. Rules differ from one authority to the next.
  • Items in good condition can be collected free of charge by reuse organisations (for example Les Petits Riens in Brussels or De Kringwinkel in Flanders), if they accept them.

If you have time, can carry the items out yourself and stay within the limits, the municipal collection is a great choice. We step in when that is not the case.

Appliances, mattresses and garden waste: the right channels

Each type of bulky item has its own route: electrical appliances go to WEEE recycling, mattresses to specialist channels where they exist, and green waste to composting. Nothing is fly-tipped, and Sparkling Services does not drop your waste at municipal recycling centres, which are meant for households.

Appliances

Fridges, freezers, washing machines and ovens are waste electrical and electronic equipment. In Belgium, they are collected through the Recupel scheme, among others. Worth knowing: when you buy a new appliance, the retailer is in principle required to take back your old one of the same type. If that did not happen, we will take it.

Mattresses

Mattresses are bulky, heavy and hard to recycle. We take them even if stained or torn, and send them to a suitable channel depending on the region. Some retailers take back the old mattress when delivering a new one, so ask when you buy.

Garden waste

Branches, hedge trimmings and leaves are composted. Plastic, metal or wooden garden furniture is sorted by material.

Reusable items

Furniture or appliances still in good condition are offered to social-economy organisations. Their value is deducted from the price: it can make the collection free, or we pay you the difference.

How a junk collection works

Junk removal usually takes four simple steps: photos, quote, appointment and collection. For most requests, no site visit is needed.

1. Send us photos

A few photos of the items, plus the floor level and whether there is a lift, are enough to estimate the volume. For a large load or tricky access, we can usually visit within 48 hours.

2. Get a fixed quote

The price is based on volume and access. It does not change on the day unless extra items are added.

3. We arrive at the agreed time

The crew protects walkways if needed, dismantles what has to be dismantled and carries everything down, even from a third floor with no lift.

4. Sorting and recycling

The load is sorted: donations, WEEE, wood, metal, mattresses, green waste and residual waste each go to their appropriate channel.

Cannot be there? Leave the items in an accessible garage, cellar or garden, or give a key to a neighbour or the building manager. We let you know as soon as everything has gone.

How much does junk removal cost?

We do not publish rates: depending on the value of reusable or resaleable items, the collection can be free, we can pay you the difference, or you pay a fixed price on quotation, based on volume, access and the type of items. For a single item, the quote takes into account the call-out for the crew and lorry.

What affects the price:

  • total volume, from a single item to a full lorry;
  • floor level, lift access and distance to the lorry;
  • weight and dismantling: a solid wardrobe, a piano, an American-style fridge;
  • the type of items: appliances, mattresses, garden waste;
  • urgent collection or a specific time slot;
  • combining it with other work, such as clearing a cellar or garage.

As a rough guide to volume, a three-seater sofa takes up around one to two cubic metres, and a fridge-freezer a little under one cubic metre. That also helps you compare with the limits of the municipal collection. Your free, no-obligation quote arrives quickly from your photos (sent by WhatsApp or through the form), so you know exactly what you will pay.

Practicalities: access, parking and being away

For a quick collection, a short stop outside your door is usually enough; for longer loading, Sparkling Services requests a reserved parking space from the municipality. We always check access beforehand.

Stairs and floors

Belgian terraced houses often have narrow, steep staircases, and many older apartment blocks have no lift. We dismantle what is needed, and if a piece truly will not go down the stairs, an external furniture lift can be used through a window, subject to permission.

Parking

In Brussels, each municipality handles parking reservations; in Flanders and Wallonia, it is the relevant municipal department or local police. We make the request when one is needed.

Apartment buildings

Let the building manager know if the lift needs to be booked or protected. We leave common areas clean after we have finished.

If you are away

You do not need to be there on the day, whether you are a landlord living elsewhere, an expat who has already left or an adult child managing a parent's home. A key or garden access is all we need, and we send a photo once the job is done.

Why choose Sparkling Services for junk removal?

Because there is nothing for you to carry, sort or drive anywhere: you show us what needs to go, and it is done.

  • From one item to a full lorry, with no volume cap.
  • We collect from inside, on any floor, dismantling included.
  • A fixed quote from photos, with no surprises on the day.
  • Donation and recycling: reusable items go to the social economy, the rest to suitable processors.
  • Three options: the value of your reusable items is deducted from the price, can make the collection free, or we pay you the difference.
  • Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia, in English, French and Dutch.

Send us a few photos and you will receive a free estimate and a suggested appointment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does junk removal cost in Belgium?

We do not publish rates. Depending on the value of your items, the collection can be free, we can pay you the difference, or you pay a fixed price on quotation, based on volume, floor level, access and the type of items. For a single piece of furniture, the quote takes the call-out into account. Send Sparkling Services a few photos and you will get a fixed, free, no-obligation quote before you confirm the appointment.

Is bulky waste collection free in Brussels?

Bruxelles-Propreté (Net Brussel) offers one free collection per household per year, up to 3 m³, by appointment; above that, it is charged. It is a good option if you have time and can put items out yourself. Sparkling Services steps in when you need it sooner, need carrying from upstairs or have more to remove.

Do you collect just one item?

Yes. We will come for a single sofa, mattress or fridge. The quote reflects the call-out for the crew and lorry, so it often makes sense to group several items together or use the visit to clear a corner of the cellar or garage at the same time.

Do I need to put the items outside?

No, and that is the main advantage of a private service. Our crew collects items from wherever they are, whether in the attic, the cellar or on a third floor with no lift, dismantles what is needed and protects walkways if necessary. You do not have to lift a thing.

Do you take old appliances?

Yes. Fridges, freezers, washing machines and cookers are taken to suitable recycling channels for electrical equipment. If you buy a new appliance, the retailer is in principle required to take back the old one; if that did not happen, we will deal with it for you.

What happens to items that are still in good condition?

We offer them to social-economy organisations, such as second-hand charity shops, depending on what they can use. Any value they have is deducted from the price of the collection, which can make it free. Items that cannot be reused are sorted by material and recycled through suitable channels (recycling parks, sorting centres). Nothing ends up in landfill if it can be avoided.

Do you take garden waste?

Yes: branches, hedge trimmings, leaves, dismantled sheds, garden furniture and barbecues. Green waste is composted and furniture is sorted by material. If it involves soil or rubble, please tell us in advance, because different conditions and disposal routes apply to those materials.

Can you collect while I am not at home?

Yes. Leave the items in an accessible garage, cellar or garden, or give a key to a neighbour, the building manager or the letting agent. We send you a photo once everything has gone. This suits landlords who live elsewhere and expats who have already left Belgium.
